In a recent meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam and France have reinforced their dedication to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a focus on strengthening cooperation across various sectors such as diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. Both nations took the opportunity to review the progress made in their bilateral relations, agreeing on the necessity to expedite the execution of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam highlighted the importance of expanding collaboration in areas including defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, as well as in critical minerals and significant infrastructure projects. The Vietnamese government also encouraged France to accelerate the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue backing the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” restrictions on Vietnamese seafood exports.
France, recognizing Vietnam as a pivotal strategic ally in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed its interest in broadening cooperation in fields such as nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. Additionally, France showed a willingness to engage more deeply in healthcare and cultural exchanges. This commitment underscores France’s view of Vietnam as a significant partner in the region.
Both countries reaffirmed their intention to increase coordination on both regional and global matters, advocating for multilateralism and dialogue. They also emphasized the importance of promoting sustainable development as a core component of their partnership. The talks between Vietnam and France reflect a shared vision of leveraging their strategic relationship to address contemporary challenges and foster growth.
