Ukraine has been grappling with a shortage of Patriot missiles amid ongoing ballistic missile assaults by Russia targeting civilian areas and vital infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasized the necessity for approximately 300 Patriot missiles to safeguard the nation’s electricity, heating, and water systems during the harsh winter months.
As the conflict inches closer to another winter, the UK’s commitment will be evaluated alongside broader military assistance from around 50 nations within the Ukraine Defence Contact Group. This assembly will concentrate on fortifying Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Additionally, the UK has consented to the declassification of blueprints for British-made components utilized in the French-manufactured SCALP missile, which Ukraine has deployed against Russian targets.
British officials have stated that this latest support is designed to assist Ukraine in enduring Russia’s persistent attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure.
